Catwalk Analytics
In dresses there has been an increase of 7% so they now make up 27% of the product mix. Skirts have decreased by 10% and shorts decreasing to 3% this year. However with dresses taking an increase that ha been no impact for trouser as they are still on a steady 12% of the product mix.
Looking at this overall product share you can see that dresses are the most popular with 27%, then woven tops with 14% and then trousers with 12%. Looking at this I can get a better understanding of what clothes to include when shooting.
Looking at details and materials I can see that ruffles have had a 33% increase in their use in designing, I feel that this links in well with the 70s feel to some of the trends in this season.
When looking at the uses of denim in design I can see that jeans are still the most popular with 44% and then jackets with 15%. I have also noticed that wide leg are 93% more popular this year and now hold 13% of the total and flared jeans are increasingly popular this season with a 78% increase however only hold 4% of the total.
I have noticed that sheer fabrics are holding 18% of the overall product mix and shine fabrics holding 17%, these materials work well with some of the 70s style trends.
Forcast to Catwalk
Looking at the Graceful trend forecast you can see how it has been implemented into the designs on the catwalk. The slides I have taken from the WGSN report are ones which I feel fit well with my initial concept ideas and within the trend that I want to work with. The colour pallet for the season sees a lot of bright bold colours and also some soft colour. The use of frills and ruffles as design factors work in well for the trend that I am thinking of bring forward into my work and will also add detail to my images.
