Initial Images

These are some of my final images from my shoot. Personally I feel that my shoot went well and the images and the theme behind them work very well with the clothing and the themes within the S/S 16 trends. The shoot went really well and I felt that the model worked really well. She knew exactly what I was asking of her and her attitude was really good and she did what I asked without hesitation.

Model

The model I have chosen for my photoshoot is a model who I have used before on numerous occasions. When working with her before I have always found her easy to work with as she suits different style and I have found that you can direct her well and she responds to what you want her to do very well. When we got given this brief and I was looking through the images used before and my ideas I thought she would fit the part very well.

My previous work with this model...

Trend Research: Soft Pop

Looking at the imagery in this trend report you can see a lot of soft relaxed colours. I feel that overall this trend is very relaxed and has a very strong feel of comfort. Looking at the imagery and the themes of the trend I feel that this is something that I would like to include within my work.

S/S16 Research: Eberjey

Looking at these images they have given me some inspiration as to how to shoot for this project. Even though the clothing in the images isn't linked to the project I still like the idea of a relaxed comfy setting such as in a house and in a bedroom. I think that this idea will make the clothes stand out and will be a bit more different to what the company has already produced.

S/S16 Research: Clothing Trends

When looking at WGSN on the reflected trends on the Tokyo catwalk and the Key Trends S/S 16: Young Women's Apparel I noticed that some styles from a trend linked with 70s style has been brought forward and is reflected well through style and materials used. I feel that this style and trend would work well for the vintage element of We Are Cow and could look good in my imagery. After looking at this imagery and research I have done I am starting to come up with a concept for my images.

S/S 16 Research: Catwalk Analysis

Catwalk Analytics

In dresses there has been an increase of 7% so they now make up 27% of the product mix. Skirts have decreased by 10% and shorts decreasing to 3% this year. However with dresses taking an increase that ha been no impact for trouser as they are still on a steady 12% of the product mix.
Looking at this overall product share you can see that dresses are the most popular with 27%, then woven tops with 14% and then trousers with 12%. Looking at this I can get a better understanding of what clothes to include when shooting.

Looking at details and materials I can see that ruffles have had a 33% increase in their use in designing, I feel that this links in well with the 70s feel to some of the trends in this season.

When looking at the uses of denim in design I can see that jeans are still the most popular with 44% and then jackets with 15%. I have also noticed that wide leg are 93% more popular this year and now hold 13% of the total and flared jeans are increasingly popular this season with a 78% increase however only hold 4% of the total.

I have noticed that sheer fabrics are holding 18% of the overall product mix and shine fabrics holding 17%, these materials work well with some of the 70s style trends.

Forcast to Catwalk

Looking at the Graceful trend forecast you can see how it has been implemented into the designs on the catwalk. The slides I have taken from the WGSN report are ones which I feel fit well with my initial concept ideas and within the trend that I want to work with. The colour pallet for the season sees a lot of bright bold colours and also some soft colour. The use of frills and ruffles as design factors work in well for the trend that I am thinking of bring forward into my work and will also add detail to my images.
